Brrr, she is chilly. poor Severus.
I used this as a example of good writing for one of my friends. What is good it the quiet and quick way you capture the stepmother's viciousness in the first sentence. What is even better is the sadness and wishfulness captured in "She of the iceberg blue eyes and ready smile and wit that was sharp in ways that didn't cause people to yell at her." However knowing what Hogwarts turned into for Severus the end is just heartbreaking. Somehow it just throws my mind back to prisoner of azkaban and how betrayed Severus must have felt over the wearwolf incident and then even worse harry was there and dumbledore would not listen to him. I've always hoped dumbledore apologized for that. Supposing that all of us that like severus are right Hogwarts must have been better though somehow this short story sparks all that for me - strange huh
Author's Response: I feel so utterly flattered. It's always interesting, the things that we see in our own writing, and the things other people see, you know? Thank you very much.
Twisty! And that is a compliment
Author's Response: I'll take it as one, then.
